You are invited to join members of Vistage for their next speaker session, led by Brad Jeavons on “Leading Excellence - Adaptive Leadership

The five hats of an adaptive leader

Business leaders want to be “World Class” and of course strive for “Business Excellence”. At the same time, we need to embrace the opportunities being provided to us by technology developments such as AI. Leaders need quick wins and lasting cultural change. Too often it is seen as an “either / or”.

Methodologies abound, many an operational manager has been “sent on a course” or improvement consultants brought in to fix a problem. But what makes it stick?

With the focus on tools, dashboards, data, processes and meetings, the one element least emphasised is Leadership. More specifically the ideal behaviours of adaptive leadership.

Ideal Results require Ideal behaviours
— Shingo Institute

“Leading Excellence - Adaptive Leadership”

The session draws from the book Leading Excellence co-authored by Brad Jeavons, Chris Butterworth and Stephen Dargan.

Leading Excellence is a practical workshop that allows attendees to explore the ideal leadership behaviours needed within their organisation to move forward.

Adaptive leadership is the recognition that our leadership approach depends on the situation, both at a macro level and at an interpersonal level. It identifies five “hats” the leader must wear.

Brad Jeavons brings this concept to life by drawing on several case studies from local businesses and familiar leaders as well as helping members explore their own challenges and leadership.

What you will learn

  • Behaviours in yourself and others that will be helping and holding back your organisation.

  • How to help leaders understand ideal behaviours and improve.

  • How to adapt your leadership behaviour considering differing people and the context around them.

  • Where to focus energy to lift your organisation

What you will take away

  • An action plan for yourself in how to adapt your leadership to wear the five hats:

    • Inspire

    • Teach

    • Support

    • Coach

    • Direct

About Brad Jeavons

Brad Jeavons is a Brisbane based speaker who I have worked with extensively over the years. He has developed a great reputation for practical, interactive workshops, weaving the leadership skills needed with the tools and processes (and jargon!) of Continuous Improvement, Lean, Agile and Scrum - in summary “Enterprise Excellence”

Brad was involved early on in his career with sustainable organisation growth, continuous improvement and innovation. This led him to become connected with the Shingo Institute (Western World’s Leading Prize for Enterprise Excellence) and the Agile Education Program (Jeff Sutherlands organisation, founder of Agile/Scrum).

Brad says his superpower is simplifying these, sometimes complex, topics and facilitating in a way that engages and involves people to help them define their own opportunities to enhance their organisations growth, culture of engagement, continuous improvement and innovation.

He is the founder of Enterprise Excellence Group, an Australian group of independent world class enterprise excellence practitioners. He the author of the award winning books Agile Sales and Leading Excellence. He has run the Enterprise Excellence Podcast and Community for several years and has some great case studies from some amazing local mid-tier companies such as Signet, Priestley’s, Ferra, Elexon, Sunny Queen, and Woods Group.

The challenges all these organisations face are very similar, how you go about improving is different. The goal is the same, create a culture and system for sustainable organisation growth and culture of continuous improvement and innovation at all levels to create & sustain competitive advantage.
